Yvonne Gannoni (1918-2010) was a distinguished violinist and violin teacher. She won many awards, including scholarships in four successive years at the NSW State Conservatorium of Music where she was a pupil of Mr Florent Hoogstoel. She gave her first public recital at the Conservatorium in 1938. In 1939 she won a travelling scholarship to England awarded by the Royal Schools of Music, London, but the outbreak of war prevented her from taking up the scholarship until 1945. She studied at the Royal Academy of Music, 1945-1947. While in London, she also played first violin in the BBC Symphony Orchestra. After returning to Australia, Gannoni played in the Sydney Symphony Orchestra and taught violin using the Suzuki method.
