    Francis Lord, son of Simeon Lord (1771–1840), was born in 1812 in Sydney, NSW, and died in Rydal, NSW on 21 Dec 1897. In 1843, Francis Lord was elected MLC for Bathurst in the first elective council, and continued to be a member of parliament until his death in 1892. In 1856 he was a member of Cabinet, and in 1868 he was a member of the first council for the borough of East St Leonards.

    Francis's son, Charles Septimus Lord, was born in 1861 at the family home in St. Leonards, Sydney, and died on 11 August 1900 in Capetown, South Africa.

Includes (1) handwritten letter dated 7 May 1856, Government House, from Alfred Denison to Francis Lord, inviting him to be a member of the Legislative Council of N.S.W.; (2) handwritten letter dated 17 October 1864, Colonial Secretary's Office, from William Elyard to Francis Lord; (3) five letters and one telegram, 27 February 1893-27 March 1894, San Francisco, from T.D. McKay to Charles Lord; (4) handwritten letter dated 19 February 1896 from unknown individual to Charles Lord.
