  • ADMINISTRATIVE/ BIOGRAPHICAL HISTORY

    Geoffrey Cochrane Remington was a lawyer and public benefactor. He was a council-member and president (1937-39) of the New South Wales Constitutional Association and a founder (1935) and chairman (1947-68) of the New South Wales group of the (Royal) Institute of Public Administration.

    He headed the Free Library Movement and later served as deputy chairman on the Library Board of New South Wales from 1944 until 1968. He was a trustee, and president in 1967, of the Public Library and a member of its Mitchell Library committee. He was also a member of the Australian Advisory Council on Bibliographical Services and of the Industrial Fund for the Advancement of Scientific Education in Schools.
