James Manning, 1814-1887, a pastoralist and member of the Royal Society of New South Wales , was an enthusiastic innovator and experimenter. He tried, unsuccessfully, for three years to promote his plans for a water supply by gravitation for Sydney. Mordaunt Clarke was the son of the geologist, Reverend W.B. Clarke. - Description source
