John Frederick Cobcroft (1859-1939)

This hand coloured portrait of Cobcroft was made ca. 1930 "when he was a councillor in Windsor" NSW. He was a member of council from at least 1931 to his death in 1939. He was a grandson of Sarah Cobcroft, whose oil portrait by Joseph Backler is held at ML 169.

The image of Cobcroft is a photographic enlargement, printed on textured photographic paper and coloured with photographic oil paint to imitate an oil painting.
