    1. King George Tubou I of Tonga, letter to Her gracious Majesty Victoria, desiring to enter into a treaty of Commerce and Amity with Great Britain, signed Tubou, dated 12 May 1856. Water mark on paper is E. Towgood, 1853

    2. Covering letter from John Eggleston to A. Denison Esq, Private Secretary, dated Bourke St, 30th September 1858, concerning the late transmission of the letter from King George Tubou. Eggleston wishes his apologies to be conveyed to Her Majesty, and expresses the advantages to Great Britain and her colonies on the Treaty. He also mentions that he has enclosed a copy of the Treaty made with King George and Napoleon III, Emperor of France, and of a translation of the Tongan version by the Rev. J. Thomas. Stamped "Forwarded with Sir W. Denisons's Despatch no. 141. 5 Oct. 1858". Water mark on paper is E. Towgood, 1853.
