    E.J. Turner was an artist with an interest in Australiana. A Henry Lawson enthusiast and collector of Australiana, he was a member of the Bread and Cheese Club, Hon. Sec. of the C.J. Dennis Memorial Committee and a committeeman of the Jindyworobak Club.

    E.J. Brady was born in Carcoar, NSW in 1869. He travelled widely in Australia and worked as a journalist and editor. He established literary friendships with a number of prominent Australiansm including Henry Lawson, A.G. Stephens, and J.F. Archibald. He contributed to 'The Bulletin' and authored a biography of Archbishop Mannix, he also wrote travel books, short stories, children's books and an autobiography titled Life's highway. He died in 1952.

    Five handwritten letters from Ted Turner to E.J. Brady, are evidence of a robust correspondence in which Turner obviously seeks and values Brady's thoughts and opinions. Mentions include Henry Lawson, J.K. Moir, J.K. McDougall, Cecil Mann, Neil Rankin, Rod Quinn, the Bread and Cheese Club, portrait of Shaw Neilson by Turner and Brady's contributions to 'The Bulletin'.
