    1. MAITLAND
    Plan of a courthouse at Maitland
    Scale not given
    architectural drawing ; on sheet 40 x 33 cm.
    Floor plan and side elevation of courthouse at Maitland.
    Plan shows judges' room, jury room, court room, and platform.
    Includes specifications for windows, walls, platforms, rafter, ceiling, etc.
    Signed with illegible signature, "Chas. Wilson [?] C.E. [Civil Engineer], D.M.[?] July [?] 21st 1830."
    Watermark: J. Whatman 1829.

    Believed to be plans from Norfolk Island.

    6. NORFOLK ISLAND
    Design for a gaol to contain one hundred prisoners
    Scale [ca. 1:240] 1 in. = 20 feet
    architectural drawing : col. ; 42 x 47 cm., on sheet 46.5 x 52 cm.
    Plans of the upper storey and ground floor.
    Plans show rooms, stairways, walls. Sections are marked with identifying letters, however no corresponding key is given on the sheet.
    Dating:[between 1840 and 1844]: plans match a description of the 'New Gaol' at Norfolk Island [Norfolk Island - The Web Site] and gaol described by Alexander Maconochie [Alexander Maconochie of Norfolk Island: a study of a pioneer in penal reform - John Vincent Barry, p. 114]. Alexander Maconochie was Superintendent of the Penal Colony at Norfolk Island from 1840-1844 [Australian Dictionary of Biography Online].

    Scale [ca. 1:120] 1 in. = 10 feet
    2 architectural drawings : sheets 40 x 31.5 cm and 19.2 x 31.5 cm.
    Includes 3 floor plans, showing measured rooms with details, and 2 elevations showing the Superintendent of Police's house, and the Lieutenant's cottage.
    Dating:[between 1827-1829]: sheets are watermarked 1827 and 1828, and plans are approved 1829.

    Plan of police office, Bathurst -- Ground plan and elevation of Superintendent of Police's house, shewing alterations as proposed, converting it into a police court -- Ground plan and elevation of cottage occupied by a Lieutenant of the Mounted Police.

    10. GOULBURN PLAINS
    Design of a gaol & court house for Goulburn Plains / Ambrose Hallen, to accompany letter, dated Goulburn Plains, 27 Dec. 1831, from L. Macalister and Andrew Gibson to the Colonel Secretary, about the ecaing state of the gaol.
    architectural drawing : col. ; on sheet 32.3 x57 cm.
    Includes general plan of site, and plan of fencing around gaol, and 3 elevations showing front elevation with view of Magistrate's Room at front of site; elevation of gaol including section of cell; and, elevation of gate and fencing.
    Dating: Signed Ambrose Hallen 23 January 1832; Charles Wilson, 7 February 1832
