  • ADMINISTRATIVE/ BIOGRAPHICAL HISTORY

    Ronald Campbell Gunn was appointed Superintendent of convicts, 1830, police magistrate, 1836, and in 1839 private secretary to the Governor, Sir John Franklin and clerk to the Legislative and Executive Councils. In 1856, he became a member of the first Legislative Assembly. He is best known for his work as a naturalist. From 1844 he was secretary to the Tasmanian Society and was elected a fellow of the Royal Society.
