  • ADMINISTRATIVE/ BIOGRAPHICAL HISTORY

    Rosa Malvina Hipgrave was born in Port Albert, Victoria in 1855, the daughter of Captain Edward Hungerford Luttrell and Georgina Hannah Graves. After growing up on Latrobe Island, off the coast of Tasmania, Rosa married Henry Hipgrave in Sydney in 1879. Rosa died in Burwood, New South Wales, in 1935.

  • Scope and Content
    A handwritten memoir by Rosa Malvina Hipgrave nee Luttrell describing her life on Latrobe Island off Tasmania, from the end of 1853 to the end of 1862. The memoir is written in black and red ink in a lined exercise book and is 150 pages long. A one page letter to Mr Wright, Librarian, Mitchell Librarian from Rosa Hipgrave clarifying the dates covered by the memoir, 4 Novemeber 1921, has been attached to page 2.
