  • ADMINISTRATIVE/ BIOGRAPHICAL HISTORY

The Australian Deaf Cricket Association was founded in 1894 with the aim of creating and fostering a friendly spirit between the different deaf societies by the promotion of an intercolonial (later interstate) cricket competition. From 1923, state teams played annually for the E. J. D. Abraham Shield, while national teams have competed in various international competitions. In June 2005 the Association changed its name to Deaf Cricket Australia. It is affiliated with Deaf Sports Australia (previously Australian Deaf Sports Federation).
