    Sir Hubert Wilkins, 1883-1958, aviator and explorer, took part in the Canadian Arctic Expedition 1913-1917, and was a navigator in the England-Australia flight, 1919. He was second-in-command of the British Imperial Antarctic Expedition, 1920-1921, and leader of many subsequent expeditions. From 1929-1939, Wilkins was a civilian advisor to the United States Army, and was knighted in 1948. Professor Ludwig Hopf, physicist, was born in Germany in 1884. His works were published in Germany and the United States between 1922 and 1948. In the late 1920's, he was living in South Australia
