Matthew Devenish Meares, Church of England clergyman, was appointed assistant chaplain December 1824. He held chaplaincies on the Hawkesbury until 1837, when he moved to Wollongong, where he was colonial chaplain - Scope and ContentDeed of trust between Governor Burke and Alexander Brodie Sparke and Leslie Duguid, in connection with money granted to Meares instead of land. Sparke and Duguid to act as trustees and administer the money grant.
