  • ADMINISTRATIVE/ BIOGRAPHICAL HISTORY

    Matthew Brady, 1799-1826, was convicted of forgery in 1820 and transported to New South Wales. He was later sent to the penal station at Maquarie Harbour, Van Diemen's Land from where he escaped in 1824 and roamed the island for two years as a bushranger. He was eventually captured near Launceston and hanged in May 1826
