  • ADMINISTRATIVE/ BIOGRAPHICAL HISTORY

    The journal was apparently kept as a record for the Reverend William Charles Cotton during his absence from the college on two occasions. It describes the day-to-day life, new buildings and extensions to the College, and contains many references to Bishop Selwyn. Illustrated with sketches and diagrams, the journal is written from beginning to end of the volume on the rectos then back again on the versos of the pages.

    Entries for 23-26 September 1845 are in another hand presumably Dale's (see 27 September entry).
