    The writer, a Swedish scientist, spent some years in New Guinea, at first collecting crotons and later as manager of Burns Philp's trading station at Motu Motu.

  • Scope and Content
    Most of the diary was written in New Guinea, describing his discoveries there and the customs of the Papuans. Several papers on these journeys written by Edelfelt were published in the Royal Geographical Society of Australia, Queensland filed in Mitchell Library. Edelfelt also contributed a chapter for J.W. Lindt's picturesque New Guinea, 1887, a copy of which is in Mitchell Library
