    Rumker and Dunlop were associated at the private observatory of Sir Thomas Brisbane, Governor at N.S.W. 1821-1823. Rumker was Government Astronomer 1827-1830, the first to hold this post. In 1831 Dunlop became Superintendent of the Parramatta Observatory
