    Bound in maroon leather, a companion to DLMSQ 167, R.C. Gunn, correspondence. Evidently acquired by Gunn and included among his papers.

    Ronald Campbell Gunn, 1808-1881, botanist, public servant and politician, was born in Cape Town. He arrived in Hobart in 1830, and held a wide range of government positions. He was appointed to the Van Diemen's Land Company in an advisory capacity and supervised the alienation of much of the company's land to settlers.
  • Scope and Content
    Exploration reports and copies of exploration reports by surveyors employed by the Van Diemen's Land Company in the search for sheep country in North and West Tasmania describing the physical aspects of the country traversed, the trees, and plants and climate of the area.

    Also includes Francis Kent's 'Statement of his escape from Macquarie Harbour' and Captain Hardwick's 'Report on the North Coast of Van Diemen's Land'.
