John Espy Keane, Church of England clergyman, arrived in Sydney in December by the Henry Porcher. He was chaplain at Bathurst form 1826 to 1838, and at Pitt Town from 1841 when he went to England on leave of absence, from which he did not return. In December 1843 he resigned his chaplaincy. He was the owner of 3,840 acres at George's Plains - Scope and ContentDeed of trust between Governor Gipps and John E. Keane, and his trustees, Robert Campbell, the younger and John Campbell, in connection with money granted to Keane instead of land
