  • ADMINISTRATIVE/ BIOGRAPHICAL HISTORY

    Reverend Isaac Selby, born in England ca. 1860, went with his family to New Zealand in 1968. When he was 22, he became a freethought lecturer. He became a Christian, and was a minister of the 'Secularist' and 'Christian' churches, later he became a Unitarian minister. He left New Zealand and lived in Australia, contesting North Melbourne in the first Federal Parliamentary elections. In 1904, he went to the United States on a lecture and preaching tour. Following numerous difficulties and troubles, Selby was imprisoned in San Quentin for five years. On his release in 1909, he was transferred to a lunatic asylum. Upon his release, he returned to Australia. Several of his theological works have been published
