In March 1868 Henry James O'Farrell made an attempt on the life of H.R.H. the Duke of Edinburgh during his visit to Australia

1. Exhibit A, conversation between the Colonial Secretary and H.J. O'Farrell, 18 March 1868, and Exhibit B, conversation between the Principal Warder and H.J O'Farrell, 20 March 1868. Cover sheet on each in the handwriting of Sir Henry Parkes, then Colonial Secretary. Both these statements are fuller than the ones published in the N.S.W. Legislative Assembly's Votes and Proceedings, 1868-69, vol. 1.

2. Exhibit A, portion of Exhibits B and C and declarations by Samuel Cook, Henry Wager and Alexander Baikie as printed in Votes and Proceedings.

3. Holograph draft of minute by the Colonial Secretary dated 12 August, 1868.

The fuller version of Exhibit A (1) agrees with DLMSQ 24 (see under Belmore, Sir Somerset Richard Lowry-Corry, 4th Earl - Holograph private letters) but the fuller version of Exhibit B (1) omits two pages included in the Belmore manuscript.
