    George Bellasis, a lieutenant in the East India Company's artillery, was sentenced to fourteen years transportation for killing his opponent in a duel. He arrived in Sydney in January 1802. He was soon granted a conditional pardon and appointed commandant of the governor's bodyguard of cavalry. he left the colony in August 1803 and died in India in 1825.
