  • ADMINISTRATIVE/ BIOGRAPHICAL HISTORY

    John Clark, 1807-, customs officer and police magistrate, was keeper of the bonded stores, at Launceston, Tasmania in 1830, and landing and coast watcher at Georgetown from 1830 to 1835. In May 1835 he began duty as Assistant Police Magistrate at Launceston, and in1836 was Assistant Police Magistrate and Harbour Master at Hobart. Clark was Police Magistrate at Launceston from 1837, until he was replaced by D'Arcy Wentworth in 1838
