  • ADMINISTRATIVE/ BIOGRAPHICAL HISTORY

    The Clergy and School Lands Corporation was established by Royal Charter in 1826 for the maintenance and support of Clergy and Schools in New South Wales in connection with the Church of England. It was allowed to sell, lease or mortgage land under the common seal. the governing body consisted of members of the government and several clergy. The Corporation provided for the opening of schools of many types.

    In 1831 the letters patent were revoked and 5 commissioners appointed to manage the affairs of the Corporation. It was dissolved by an order in Council in 1833, and an agent was appointed. In 1826, the Corporation took over the Female Orphan School
