    Collet Barker, a captain in the army, took command at Raffles Bay, where he was successful in conciliating the natives and in improving the health of the settlement. In 1829, he was ordered to transfer the settlement to King George's Sound, where he took command again until 1831, when Captain James Stirling was given command.
