  • ADMINISTRATIVE/ BIOGRAPHICAL HISTORY

    Arthur Orton, 1834-1898, migrated to Tasmania in 1852, and settled in Wagga, N.S.W., in the 1860's. In 1865 he falsely claimed to be Roger Charles Tichborne, heir to a Hampshire estate, and traveled to England under this identity. His deception became known in 1871 and in 1873 he was found guilty of perjury
