  • ADMINISTRATIVE/ BIOGRAPHICAL HISTORY

    Stella Maria Sarah Miles Franklin, 1879-1954, in addition to writing under the name of Miles Franklin published a series of six novels under the pseudonym Brent of Bin Bin. Three were published 1928-1931 in Edinburgh by Black-wood, the remainder 1950-1956 in Sydney by Angus & Robertson, who also reprinted the Blackwood publications. Returning from England to Australia in 1927, she continued to communicate until ca. 1945 with Blackwood and some other publishers from London addresses with the help of two Australian residents, Mary Fullerton and, during the mid 1930's, Jean Hamilton. For Mary Fullerton Miles Franklin acted in turn as an Australian agent in the publication of her poems under the pseudonym E. To Angus & Robertson Miles Franklin presented herself as an agent for Brent of Bin Bin
