  • ADMINISTRATIVE/ BIOGRAPHICAL HISTORY

    John Lamb Lyon, 1835-1916, an artist, arrived in Melbourne in April 1861. He formed the firm of Lyon, Cottier and Co., painters and decorators and he erected many stained glass windows in churches throughout New South Wales. He married Elizabeth Gillespie in 1860 and had eight children. His daughter, Margaret, born 1862, married Francis Ernest Stowe, an engineer, who submitted plans for the design of Sydney Harbour Bridge
