Prior to becoming Governor of New South Wales in 1810, Lachlan Macquarie served in various capacities with the British Army in India, and in 1807 was gazetted to command the 73rd regiment - Scope and ContentNegative photoprints
The letters are written chiefly from Bombay and New South Wales. They refer to Macquarie's career and family affairs
