Gibbs, Bright & Co., importers, merchants and shipping agents, became in 1888 lessees of Dibbs Wharf in Darling Harbour, N.S.W., which had been purchased that year from Thomas A. Dibbs by the Dibbs Wharf Syndicate. Among the companies for whom Gibbs, Bright & Co. were managing agents was the Caledonian & Australian Mortgage & Agency Co. Ltd, formed ca. 1887
