    Elizabeth Macarthur was the granddaughter of John Macarthur. After the death of her husband, Captain Arthur Onslow, she adopted by Royal Letters Patent the name Macarthur in addition to her married name, and thus founded the Macarthur-Onslow branch of the family. These papers relate mainly to her personal estate and that of several of her children
