    A description of a tour of inspection of the settlements along the rivers, in which he remarks on the settlers, schools, agriculture, cottage industries and the selling of alcohol to the Maoris. Reference is also made to the Chief Justice Sir William Martin and his wife who were travelling on the river at the same time
