    A director of the Bank of New South Wales, John Alexander acted as W. C. Wentworth's agent in Australia wile the latter was overseas and wrote regularly to England to inform Wentworth of his financial and business dealings in N.S.W.
  • Scope and Content
    The letters give details of the nature and conduct of Wentworth's business affairs including property dealings, lawsuits, sales of wool, cattle and timber, and investments in companies such as the Wentworth Gold Co., Bank of N.S.W., and Summer Hill Copper Co. They provide also information on the general financial conditions in New South Wales in the 1850's
