At the end of 1873, Henry Kendall met members of the Fagan family at Gosford, N.S.W. Kendall was suffering from a prolonged illness and had a tendency to drink. The Fagans took him to live with them at their home at Gosford and eventually restored him to health. During this period, Kendall was able to perform a few clerical tasks for them. In 1875 he was well enough to take charge of their business at Camden Haven N.S.W. where he remained until 1881. Kendall continued his close association with the Fagan brothers for the rest of his life and died at their house in Sydney, N.S.W. in 1882
