    Kathleen Horne (1900-1989) wrote and produced the musical 'A Family Interlude', based on the Depression years in Sydney. It was first produced and performed at St James Hall, Phillip Street, Sydney in 1934 and broadcast on Radio 2FC, then performed again in 1937. Concert direction on both occasions was by John E. Brownlow. The orchestra was conducted by Charles Onley in 1934 and Charles Batalia in 1937.

    Henry Edwin Horne (1872-1955) was Kathleen's uncle. He was a Member of the NSW Legislative Assembly from 1907 until his death. With Kathleen, he co-wrote the words and music of 'O no! Old river' which was used in 'A Family Interlude' and published separately by W.H. Paling & Co.
