    At the end of the volume is copied a complete list of contents of a work entitled 'A residence in Sydney, New South Wales with some account of the colony, and of the recent extensive gold discoveries there, together with some speculation as to the probable immediate results thereof'. 1856+. The writer of the diary may have been the author of this work but if published it could not be traced in the Mitchell Library, 1955. A sketch of Santa Cruz and a portrait of Col. Gardiner are in the pocket.
