    Thomas Archer had previously settled with his brothers John and David on Stanley Creek near the Glasshouse Mountains. Later on, between 1853 and 1878 he devoted himself to the development of his properties in Queensland. In 1878 he settled in England and was Agent General for Queensland in 1881-1884 and 1888-1890
  • Scope and Content
    Describes voyage to Panama 2 January-29 February, stay of a month in Panama, voyage to Aspinwall by mule, boat and train, then by ship El Dorado 11-12 April to New York. After spending some days there and visiting acquaintances at Rhode Island, Providence and Boston, writer embarked 28 April on S.S. America, bound for England. Diary stops when entering St George's Channel 8 May 1852. At the end of the volume are some Spanish lessons
