    G. E. Barby, 1807-1867, arrived in New South Wales in 1839 and worked as a surveyor in the Newcastle, Port Stephens, Paterson and Allyn districts. He and his son, Francis William, were surveyors for the Australian Agricultural Company, ca. 1852-1857. They lived near Quirindi, N.S.W.
