    Henry Rae emigrated from Scotland to New South Wales in ca. 1822. On his arrival in Sydney in ca. 1823, Rae set himself up as a saddler. Later he received a grant of land in the vicinity of Turro and Beresfield, N.S.W. Consequently, he moved to the nearby town of Maitland, N.S.W. Henry Rae married Jean Gordon, daughter of Maurice and Mary Gordon in 182-. Margaret Hodges, a friend of Jean Rae, died in Sydney in September, 1824
