James Cassius Williamson, 1845-1913, actor and theatrical manager was one of Australia's most successful theatrical entrepreneurs. Born in America, he first visited Australia in 1874 and was instrumental in forming several Australian theatre companies, successfully managing theatres such as the Theatre Royal, Princess's Theatre and Her Majesty's in Melbourne, and Her Majesty's in Sydney, and in bringing many celebrities from abroad to tour Australia
