Illawong Ski Tourers, primarily a ski club, has been registered as a ski company under the Companies Act of N.S.W. for the purpose of administering Illawong Lodge. Illawong Lodge is a small, self-contained mountain lodge located in the same valley as Guthega, N.S.W., in the Kosciusko National Park. The 1981 Draft Plan of Management for Kosciusko proposed new management unit and recommends its destruction with a new lodge to be located at Guthega, N.S.W. Illawong Lodge dates back to 1956 and incorporates Pounds Creek Hut which was built by the N.S.W. Tourist Bureau in 1925-1926. By 1955 Pounds Creek Hut had become dilapidated with the result that the Illawong Ski Tourers, then known as the Illawong Ski Lodge Project, were given permission by the Kosciusko State Park Trust to occupy the hut and alter it to the Illawong Lodge. Illawong Lodge opened in 1957 with the original Pounds Creek Hut forming the east-west wing of the new Lodge
