    W. G. Hughes, of the Royal Staff Corps, was Acting Surveyor of Roads and Bridges from 12 March-1 November 1828. The title of Surveyor of Roads and Bridges was only used from 1 April 1827 to 1 January 1830 when the Office was discontinued. Responsibility for the colony's roads and bridges then passed to the Surveyor-General

    Written on blank pages in the Australian Almanack, 1828, which has also been annotated by W. G. Hughes. Diary is incomplete with many gaps between entries.
