    John Edye Manning came out to New South Wales in 1829 as Registrar of the Supreme Court. This letter gives interesting references to contemporaries.

    Manning's son, John Edye Manning, was a marine architect. He founded the Parramatta Steamboat Company in 1844 and a few years later the Illawarra Steam Navigation Company.

    His grandson was Charles James Manning, a Judge of the Supreme Court of New South Wales.
