    Codrington Ball was born in Donegal, Ireland and was the great-great grandson of Henry Lidgebird Ball who commanded H.M.S. Supply in the First Fleet. Under the stage name of Scott King Alexander, Ball was an actor, scenic artist an theatre manager in Britain. On coming to Australia he continued his theatrical career, managing the Turret Theatre, Sydney, N.S.W. and writing for radio
