Lieutenant Colonel Tasman claims to be a descendant of Abel Jansen (sic in Librarian Liaison Officers' letter, 11 November 1963, ML file 1446/1963) Tasman, and the tree goes back to the arrival of the Tasman family in England from Holland in 1760.

Colonel Tasman said that he has heard of a Tasman family in Paris but that there is no one by the name of Tasman still living in Holland.

The Tasman family tree shows connection with Sir Frederick Holder, 1st speaker of the House of Representatives in Australia
