Gordon Williamson, ca. 1897-1976, Sydney antiquary and amateur historian was the great great grandson of a Sirius marine who settled in Brighton, Tasmania and the son of the owner of the Old Curiosity Shop at Brown's River, Tasmania. In later years Williamson became the friend of Dorothea Mackellar and her friend and companion Mrs Dorothea Murchison Macmillan. Both ladies lent items from the Mackellar papers, then stored at 'Cintra' Darling Point, the home of Dorothea Mackellar. These items were appropriated by the beneficiaries of Dorothea Mackellar's will after his death on 16 September 1976 and later donated to the Mitchell Library in two batches, on 27 December 1979 and 7 February 1980.
