  • ADMINISTRATIVE/ BIOGRAPHICAL HISTORY

    The Sobaron was built at Aberdeen in 1866. Originally a sailing ship, it was sold to the New South Wales Government in 1891 and became a nautical school ship for delinquent boys. In 1911 the Sobraon was sold to the Commonwealth Government to become a naval training ship under the name of Tingira
  • Scope and Content
    Includes letter by H. Martin Doyle, 1918 and material relating to the ship, Vernon, which was acquired by the NSW Government in 1867 as a Nautical Training School ship
