    James Laidley, 1786-1836, Deputy Commissary General, arrived in Sydney in 1827 with his wife Eliza Jane, nee Shepheard, and family. He died intestate and John Edye Manning the elder organised a subscription for his survivors.
    His daughters Theresa and Maria married respectively Thomas Sutcliffe Mort and Henry Mort
