  • ADMINISTRATIVE/ BIOGRAPHICAL HISTORY

"My grandfather's old home, Woodbridge, which my father inherited, still stands on the riverbank beside the bridge (the first one was wooden) at New Norfolk, but it passed out of our possession many years ago. My only brother, William Stanley Cockburn, (called Cockburn) the youngest of six children, died a few months ago, leaving me, the second youngest, the only surviving member of our family. I am the only one who was not born at New Norfolk. For my birth, my mother returned to Bathurst, N.S.W., and stayed near Brucedale, her old home, where my maternal great grandfather, George Suttor, settled, and where one of his great great grandsons now lives. I shall treasure your letter with the various medals all so clearly set out." -- letter from donor on ML file, 13 June 1972
