    Josiah Chester Adams was born 19 June 1830 as Pitcairn Island, the son of George Adams (1804-1873). His grandfather was John Adams (1763-1829) fugitive from the Bounty

    Written at Norfolk Island the letter refers to the mug which belonged to John Adams, the writer's grandfather, and to the dates of birth and death of John Adams and the writer's father

Fish great grand daughter of original John Adams April 6 1906' and at back 'borne at Norfolk Island Mary A. Fish great grand daughter of original John Adams borne at Norfolk Is'd, August 27th 1862 a.d'
